SWEDISH OPPOSITION WINS PARLIAMENTARY MAJORITY

STOCKHOLM, SEPTEMBER 17 /SRNA-Reuters/ – Sweden's center-left opposition parties won 176 seats in the parliamentary election, while the governing right-wing bloc secured 173, the Swedish Election Authority said after the vote count was completed.

The opposition bloc is made up of the Social Democrats, the Left Party, the Centre Party and the Green Party.

The result opens the way for a possible change of government, with Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson seeking a return to the prime minister's post after four years in opposition.

All votes for the 349-seat parliament have now been counted, although the result is still subject to formal certification in the coming days.
