SHANGHAI, AUGUST 10 /SRNA – Reuters/ – Heavy rain and storms following Typhoon Dolphin swept through several provinces in eastern China, drenching coastal areas and flooding streets in Shanghai.
Heavy rainfall affected the eastern provinces of Anhui, Jiangsu and Shandong.
Many streets in the suburban districts of Jiading and Qingpu, in the greater Shanghai metropolitan area, were still under water this morning, according to videos posted on social media.
The two Shanghai airports canceled a total of 943 flights due to the typhoon, reducing capacity by nearly 40 percent.
Typhoon Dolphin had maximum sustained winds of 151 kilometers per hour near its center when it made landfall in Zhejiang Province, south and west of Shanghai, last night, after which it weakened into a tropical storm.
