STATUE MOCKING TRUMP IN EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT - SIGN OF EU'S DOWNFALL

BRATISLAVA, OCTOBER 8 /SRNA/ - A statue mocking US President Donald Trump displayed on the premises of the European Parliament is a sign of the EU's downfall, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said.

"I do not agree with all of the US President's policies, but at a time that calls for dialogue and mutual respect, insulting our partners in official premises shows a profound misunderstanding of the times we live in," Fico wrote on X.

He stressed that it was sad that the European leadership could not distinguish the legitimate right to hold a different opinion from the actions of "spiritually bankrupt individuals, adventurers and lunatics."

"Would the leadership of the European Parliament agree to have mocking depictions of the French President /Emmanuel Macron/ or German Chancellor /Friedrich Merz/ displayed? Since the answer is obvious, I expect the President of the European Parliament /Roberta Metsola/ to immediately remove the grotesque depiction of the US President from the Parliament premises," the Slovak prime minister said.

A golden statue of Donald Trump sitting on the shoulders of a smaller man is on display in the European Parliament building in Strasbourg. It is about 2.4 metres tall and is titled "The Orange Plague"; it was created by Danish sculptor Jens Galschiøt.

Trump is depicted holding a golf club, while a ball shaped like planet Earth is positioned in front of him, and he is holding a set of scales in his other hand.
