SOLUTION TO THE UKRAINE CONFLICT MUST BE LONG-TERM, RELIABLE AND SUSTAINABLE

MOSCOW, AUGUST 14 /SRNA/ - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that a solution to the conflict in Ukraine must be long-term, reliable and sustainable, and that an "immediate ceasefire" is not an option.

"We should stop only when a long-term, reliable, and sustainable solution has been achieved," Lavrov stressed, reminding that there are growing calls across the region for an immediate ceasefire.

He said that the conflict in Ukraine cannot be stopped along the line of contact because that would erase the feat of the fathers and grandfathers who defeated Nazism.

"That is out of the question. It is our responsibility to Russia's thousand-year history. Our people are suffering and dying in these terrorist attacks," Lavrov stressed.

He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to meet again with US President Donald Trump's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, but said the question was what proposals they would bring to the Kremlin.

In an interview with Vesti, Lavrov also said that Moscow had asked the US State Department to comment on reports of Washington's involvement in attacks by the Kyiv regime on civilian targets deep inside Russian territory.

Lavrov said that Kyiv openly boasts about terrorist attacks on Russian civilians.

"After every terrorist attack, representatives of the regime boast on social media and other platforms about major strikes on beaches, student dormitories and other civilian facilities and areas," Lavrov stressed.

According to him, Moscow will not resort to Kyiv's methods, but will take much tougher measures to destroy everything that drives Ukraine's military machine from the West.

"We will do everything to dismantle everything the West uses to sustain its military machine. We are already doing that, and they are beginning to feel the pressure," Lavrov stressed.
