WASHINGTON, AUGUST 21 /SRNA/ - World number one Jannick Sinner announced that he will not participate in the US Open for health reasons.
He said on social media that he has not fully recovered from a right knee injury, and that he made the decision after consulting with his team and doctors.
"Although I have worked hard with my team and doctors, we have to make the difficult decision that I will not be able to compete in the US Open this year," Siner said.
He stressed that he is sad and disappointed, as New York "holds a special place in his heart".
The US Open will begin on August 30 in New York and will run until September 13.
