MOSCOW, MAY 26 /SRNA/ - The current military drills in Europe are openly directed against Russia and Belarus, said the Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergey Shoigu.

Addressing reporters after a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organization members, he stated that European countries "are not even trying to hide that the drills are directed against Russia and Belarus".

"We exchanged views and the latest information regarding the exercises in Europe, which are clearly oriented against Moscow, Minsk and the Union of Russia and Belarus. There are seven exercises underway and all of them are openly directed against us," Shoigu stressed.

He said that a number of security issues were discussed during the meeting, and not only within the borders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, TASS reported.

"Of course, we also discussed the Middle East, Ukraine - all the developments on our western borders and the threats coming from there," Shoigu added.
