SEIZED COCAINE SHIPMENT WITH HAALAND STICKERS

QUITO, AUGUST 13 /SRNA/ - Stickers featuring the image of Norwegian football ace Erling Haaland were found on packages containing cocaine seized in a truck near the border with Colombia, AP reports.

Ecuadorian police announced that the driver was arrested after 469 kilograms of cocaine were seized, hidden in the false bottom of the truck, but it remains unclear for now why the packages had stickers with Haaland`s image.

It is a common practice for drug traffickers to mark their shipments with the names of famous athletes and other public figures to provide further distributors with information about the producer of the shipment and the intended client.

Norwegian Erling Haaland became a social media phenomenon after scoring seven goals in four matches at the World Cup in July.
