SAUDI OIL PIPELINE ATTACK LAUNCHED FROM IRAQI TERRITORY

BAGHDAD, SEPTEMBER 12 /SRNA/ – The Iraqi Government said an attack on Saudi Arabia's main oil pipeline was launched from Iraqi territory and pledged to investigate the incident.

Iraq has closed two key border crossings with Iran and suspended all passenger and commercial traffic with the country until further notice, regional media reported.

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi ordered an investigation in Maysan province and dismissed the commander of the province's military operations command after it was established that the attack had been carried out from the area.

Saudi Arabia yesterday closed its main oil pipeline crossing the Iraqi border as a precautionary measure.

US President Donald Trump, speaking during his visit to Ireland, blamed Iran for the attack that led to the pipeline shutdown.

Fears are growing in global markets that oil and gas prices could rise further, while international shipping has also come under additional pressure after Iran-backed Houthi forces seized a key island and port in the Red Sea.
