RUSSIAN TRIATHLETES CAN COMPETE UNDER NATIONAL SYMBOLS

MOSCOW, AUGUST 21 /SRNA/ - The Executive Board of the World Triathlon has allowed Russian triathletes to compete under the flag of the Russian Federation, with the national anthem played in case of victory, Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev announced.

"Our athletes will be able to compete in national jerseys, under the Russian flag, and the national anthem of Russia will be played in case of victory. I congratulate the Russian Triathlon Federation and the athletes," Degtyarev wrote on Telegram.

The World Triathlon allowed Russian athletes to compete in the mixed relay last month. The governing body previously allowed Russian juniors to participate in all competitions without restrictions, TASS recalls.
