REMAINS OF GERMAN SOLDIERS AND A MOTORCYCLE FROM WW II RECOVERED FROM THE DANUBE

BUDAPEST, AUGUST 7 /SRNA/ – The remains of two Wehrmacht soldiers and a motorcycle from World War II have been recovered from the bottom of the Danube in the Budapest area, the German War Graves Commission “Volksbund” announced.

According to the Commission, the organisation sent an exhumation specialist to Budapest, who carried out the excavation with the assistance of Hungarian colleagues, Euronews reported.

The portal added that a larger number of German “Tellermine 35” anti-tank mines were also found.

The water level of the Danube is currently so low that remains from World War II are once again emerging across the countries through which the river flows.

Russia Today previously reported that, due to the river’s record-low water levels, ships from the World War II period, aircraft bombs, as well as mummified mammoth remains, had surfaced.
