COLOGNE, AUGUST 24 /SRNA/ - Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service said it will set up a recruitment booth at “Gamescom 2026,” the world’s largest international video game trade fair, in an effort to recruit new staff from among gamers.
“Cologne, Gamescom. Visit us and discover career opportunities at Germany’s foreign intelligence service,” the agency said on social media.
Visitors will be offered the chance to compete against other participants in the video game “Operation Blackbox,” which is based on missions carried out by the German intelligence service.
This will allow them to learn more about employment opportunities in technical positions.
“We see significant overlap between gamers and the key talent we are looking for - they are tech-savvy, enjoy taking on different roles, carrying out missions, and persevering until they succeed,” the agency’s spokeswoman, Julia Leiner, said.
