POLICE HUNT GUNMEN AFTER 17 KILLED AT TAVERN

JOHANNESBURG, SEPTEMBER 27 /SRNA/ - South African police said they had launched a manhunt after 17 people were killed in a shooting at a tavern in the township of Wedela, southwest of Johannesburg.

"Emergency medical services declared all 17 people dead at the scene, while the motive for the shooting remains unknown," police said in a statement.

The statement added that the suspects were reportedly armed with handguns and AK-47 rifles.
