MOSCOW, JULY 5 /SRNA/ – Russia is systematically establishing a security, or buffer, zone along its border with Ukraine due to the aggressive nature of the Kyiv regime, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated.
"Given the aggressive nature of the Kyiv regime, in order to guarantee the security of our citizens, we will have to establish a security, or buffer, zone. It is being created in a systematic manner," Peskov told the Rossiya News television channel.
He stressed Russian forces had already made significant progress and that there should be no doubt the zone would be established to the extent necessary to ensure security, TASS reported.
Peskov added that Russian forces continue to advance and that the results of that process are visible on the ground.
As one example, Peskov cited the capture of Konstantinovka, describing it as a highly significant line and an important step toward gaining control of the fortified area of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.
