ORBÁN: BUDAPEST TO MAINTAIN NEUTRALITY FOLLOWING ATTACK IN GALATI

BUDAPEST, MAY 29 /SRNA/ - Former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent a message of support to those injured in a drone attack on an apartment building in Galati, Romania, and called on the current Hungarian government to maintain a policy of neutrality.

He wrote on X that the incident in Romania shows that the war in Ukraine poses a direct threat to neighboring countries.

"We therefore call on the Hungarian government to maintain the policy of neutrality established by the previous government and to refrain from taking any steps towards the pro-war policy advocated by parts of Europe," Orbán said.

The Romanian Defense Ministry said earlier today that a drone crashed onto the roof of a ten-story apartment building in the southeastern city of Galati, causing a fire, and a woman and her minor child suffered minor burns and were hospitalized.

The fire has since been extinguished.

The Romanian Foreign Ministry said that Bucharest had informed its allies and the NATO secretary general about the incident and requested measures to accelerate the transfer of anti-drone equipment to Romania.
