BERLIN, OCTOBER 1 /SRNA/ – Only 10 percent of Germans approve of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s work performance, according to the latest survey commissioned by public broadcaster ARD, the lowest rating for a chancellor in the history of the poll, which has been conducted since 1997.
According to the survey, 88 percent of citizens are either somewhat dissatisfied or completely dissatisfied with the chancellor.
At the beginning of September, Merz had an approval rating of 13 percent.
If general elections were held on Sunday, the governing Christian Democratic Union and its Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union, would receive 20 percent of the vote, one percentage point less than at the beginning of September.
The opposition Alternative for Germany would remain at 27 percent, while the Greens would receive 16 percent and overtake the Social Democratic Party, which would receive 13 percent of the vote.
The poll was conducted by the public opinion research institute Infratest Dimap among 1,303 eligible voters.
