LONDON, OCTOBER 6 /SRNA/ - The axe used by Jack Nicholson when he delivered the famous line "Here's Johnny!" in the 1980 horror film "The Shining" will be auctioned in London.
Additional items from director Stanley Kubrick's personal archive will also be auctioned for the first time in January and February next year at Bonhams auction house.
In the film, Nicholson, who plays Jack Torrance, used the axe to break through the bathroom door as he tried to kill his wife, Wendy /Shelley Duvall/ after losing his mind while staying at the Overlook Hotel.
The axe is estimated to fetch between £30,000 and £50,000, PA Media reported.
Other items to be auctioned include the Star Child prop from 2001: A Space Odyssey, which is expected to fetch between £600,000 and £800,000.
The Star Child appears as a glowing fetus in the final scene of the 1968 science-fiction epic.
Other memorabilia includes the blue dresses worn by the Grady sisters in The Shining, which are expected to fetch between £40,000 and £60,000.
Kubrick's annotated copy of the film treatment Journey Beyond the Stars, on which 2001: A Space Odyssey was based, is estimated to sell for between £30,000 and £50,000.
The director's annotated screenplay for the 1962 film Lolita is expected to fetch between £40,000 and £60,000.
