NETANYAHU: FEWER AND FEWER CHRISTIANS IN THE MIDDLE EAST

NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 24 /SRNA/ - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addressing the UN General Assembly, warned that the number of Christians across the Middle East is declining due to persecution, and said that Israel is the only country where they can live safely.

Netanyahu stressed that the regime in Tehran is most afraid of its own people.

“The Iranian regime is most afraid that its people will be able to access the truth online and have freedom of choice, freedom of thought and freedom of speech. That is why the Iranian regime spends enormous sums of money censoring the internet,” Netanyahu said.

The Israeli prime minister told the President of the UN General Assembly that he would also leave behind one of the communication devices so that it could be delivered to the Iranian delegation, allowing them, should they defect, to use it to post the truth on social media.

Delegations from many countries, including BiH and Iran, left the hall before the Israeli prime minister began his speech, while the Iranians also left behind on their table a photograph of General Qassem Soleimani, commander of Iran’s Quds Force, who was killed in a US strike in Baghdad in 2020.

Netanyahu asked the demonstrators outside the UN headquarters in New York and the “hypocritical” delegates who had walked out of the hall where they had been when the Iranian regime was attacking and torturing tens of thousands of unarmed civilians.

“Why didn’t you organise mass rallies or hunger strikes then? Did you protest outside the Iranian mission to the UN?” Netanyahu asked.

Among those who remained in the hall before the Israeli prime minister began his address was the Serbian delegation, led by President Aleksandar Vučić.

BiH Ambassador to the UN Zlatko Lagumdžija had announced that “the BiH delegation will not attend the UN General Assembly session during Netanyahu’s address”, and Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović told SRNA that the move did not reflect the position of BiH but was an arbitrary decision on his part.
