WARSAW, OCTOBER 31 /SRNA/ - Polish President Karol Nawrocki has called urgent consultations with representatives of parliamentary parties over the dispute surrounding the Constitutional Tribunal.

"Due to the threat to the internal security of the Republic of Poland, I am convening urgent consultations today with representatives of parliamentary groups to stabilize the political situation and restore constitutional order," the President's statement said, as read out by his Chief of Staff, Paweł Szefernaker.

Szefernaker did not specify when the consultations would take place.

Nawrocki called for "the restoration of the rule of law and the withdrawal of security forces deployed by the government from the court premises."

Demonstrators gathered outside the court in Warsaw last night, accusing Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government of undermining the country's Constitution and judiciary after the court's chief justice and his deputy were suspended, TASS reports.
