NATO WAS FORMED AS A MEANS OF CONFRONTATION, ITS MAIN OPPONENT IS RUSSIA

MOSCOW, JULY 9 /SRNA/ – NATO was created as a tool for confrontation, and Russia has always been the main opponent of the Alliance, stated Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"NATO is not losing its purpose. It remains true to its purpose," Peskov said.

He added that the main opponent of the Alliance has always been, first, the Soviet Union, and then the successor state of the Soviet Union, Russia.

"It has remained that way," Peskov told the news portal "Vesti".
