MIROSHNIK: UKRAINIAN FORCES DESTROYED 19TH-CENTURY ORTHODOX CHURCH

KURSK, SEPTEMBER 24 /SRNA/ - Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian Orthodox church dating from the first half of the 19th century in the Kursk Region, which had been designated a cultural monument, Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large responsible for documenting Kyiv’s war crimes, said.

"Governor of the Kursk Region Alexander Khinshtein published photographs that provide evidence of another Ukrainian war crime - the destruction of the Church of St. George, a historical and cultural monument in the Rylsky District. The church was located in the village of Kozino, one kilometre from the state border," Miroshnik said on Telegram.

He reminded that the wooden church was built in 1844, but its history goes back much further; the earliest reference dates to 1648 in a tax register. The chapel was looted in 1662, and in 1699 it received a new antimension and was consecrated.

"Hundreds of crimes that the Kyiv regime has already committed against historical and religious sites clearly show that the regime of /Ukrainian President Volodymyr/ Zelenskyy has chosen to wage war against the history and faith of its ancestors," Miroshnik concluded.
