MEDIA OUTLETS ANNOUNCE LAWSUIT AGAINST TRUMP

WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 21 /SRNA/ - Media outlets CNN, MSNBC and Politico have announced that they will sue US President Donald Trump, seeking to overturn a ban preventing their journalists from accessing the White House.

The lawsuit is expected to be filed today in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.

"The Constitution protects the freedom and property interests that media organizations and White House reporters have in their press credentials and the access those credentials provide for reporting from the White House in the public interest," the lawsuit says.

The media outlets are expected to argue that the ban violates their rights under the First Amendment and that access has been improperly denied without prior notice or adherence to due process.

On Friday, September 18, Trump said the ban had been imposed in response to what he described as the organizations' "cumulative stories", accusing them of publishing "fiction and fake news".

He warned that other media outlets could also face similar restrictions.
