MEDIA: ISLAMIST SUSPECTED OF ATTACK KILLED

BERLIN, JULY 26 /SRNA/Reuters/ – Islamist Abdul Balut, /aged 21/ who was suspected of driving a vehicle into participants of a Pride parade in central Berlin, was killed during a police operation in the city, Radio RBB reported.

According to the same source, the suspect was killed in Berlin's Spandau district.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt told ZDF that one person had been killed, but said there was no confirmation yet that the deceased was the suspect in the attack.

The vehicle attack occurred last night at around 10:00 p.m. in the Tiergarten park near the Brandenburg Gate during the Pride parade. One person was killed and 29 others were injured, authorities said.

Berlin police identified the suspect as Abdul B., 21, and released his photograph while asking the public for information on his whereabouts.

The attacker is a German citizen of Lebanese descent who was born in Germany in 2005.
