BUDAPEST, AUGUST 2 /SRNA–Reuters/ – Hungary is facing a critical period over the next five days as a forecast heatwave will coincide with the complete shutdown of the country's only nuclear power plant for the first time in nearly half a century, Prime Minister Péter Magyar said.
The power grid and public utilities will come under enormous strain in the coming days, Magyar posted on Facebook.
He called on companies, local governments and households to significantly reduce power consumption during the evening hours, when demand on the power grid is at its highest.
