HEGSETH: EUROPE IS FACING INVASION OF DANGEROUS IDEOLOGIES

PARIS, JUNE 6 /SRNA–Reuters/ – Europe is facing an invasion of dangerous ideologies arriving by sea, U.S. Secretary of Defence Peter Hegseth warned during a speech marking the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day operation.

Hegseth said that the threat posed by migration and the disruptions it brings is comparable to the threat once posed by Nazism, which the Allies defeated together.

“Unfortunately, today Europe’s beaches are being washed by other dangerous ideologies. Boats and people are arriving on the shores of Spain, Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria,” Hegseth said in a speech at the American military cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy.

He asked when European capitals would take action in response to invasion, or whether it was already too late.

He reiterated criticisms frequently voiced by Washington toward Europe, arguing that the continent is vulnerable because of weak defence capabilities, unable to cope with migration, burdened by excessive bureaucracy, and prone to censoring right-wing and nationalist voices in order to preserve centralized authority in Brussels.
