WASHINGTON, OCTOBER 1 /SRNA/ - US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed plans to reduce the number of generals and admirals by 20 percent and said that, in the US armed forces, diversity and representation would not matter, but rather strict readiness and loyalty.
"The only focus, as you know, in your units should be on training, readiness, accountability, discipline, and capability. Complainers, ideologues and underperformers are no longer going to run things," Hegseth said while addressing lower-ranking service members at a Marine Corps base.
Outlining the position of US President Donald Trump's administration, which has also been applied to the armed forces, Hegseth said that the previous administration's "woke" diversity policies had weakened morale and readiness and that the current administration would not continue them.
"We are no longer the `woke department` or the `department of weaklings`. Put simply, that means: no more obese people, no more transgender people, no more bearded men, no more weirdos, no more weaklings, no more radicals. Just warriors," Hegseth added.
