HAMAS COMMANDER RESPONSIBLE FOR HOSTAGES KILLED

JERUSALEM, SEPTEMBER 24 /SRNA/ — The Israel Defence Forces /IDF/ announced that they killed Hamas commander Mahmoud Abd al-Fattah Awad in a strike in the Gaza City area.

According to the IDF, Awad participated in the war by holding seven Israeli hostages in an underground tunnel in Gaza City.

"This terrorist recently planned and carried out terrorist attacks against IDF forces and Israeli civilians, and worked to restore the capabilities of the terrorist organisation, thereby systematically violating the ceasefire,” reads today’s military statement.

The IDF stressed that the terrorist was killed in an airstrike over the weekend in order to eliminate the threat he posed.

Earlier, the IDF announced that Hamas financial official Muhammad Abu Alwan had been killed in the Khan Younis area in the southern Gaza Strip.
