GHALIBAF: STRAIT OF HORMUS TO REMAIN CLOSED

TEHRAN, AUGUST 18 /SRNA-Reuters/ - The Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States meets the terms of an interim agreement with Iran, Iran's chief negotiator Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf said.

He said the terms included lifting the naval blockade and sanctions on Iran, as well as the release of frozen Iranian assets, Iranian state media reported.

The United States and Iran reached a temporary ceasefire agreement in April with the mediation of Pakistan, and then signed a memorandum of understanding on June 17.

The memorandum stipulated that the two sides would negotiate and conclude a permanent peace agreement within the next 60 days.
