GENERAL STRIKE DISRUPTS AIR TRAVEL IN PARIS AND MARSEILLE

PARIS, SEPTEMBER 29 /SRNA-Reuters/ - France's civil aviation regulator DGAC said it had requested flight cancellations at major airports in Paris and Marseille because of a general workers' strike.

The agency said it had asked airlines to cancel five percent of their flights between 7.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m. at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and 25 percent of flights at Marseille Airport between 4.00 p.m. and midnight.

"Air traffic disruptions are possible at regional airports in Nantes, Strasbourg, Limoges, Lourdes and Pau", the statement said.

The agency added that traffic was expected to operate normally at other airports in France.
