BORDEAUX, JULY 26 /SRNA/ – Authorities in the French city of Bordeaux are considering the possibility of a full evacuation of the city as wildfires continue to spread.
"We are considering all options and scenarios regarding the spread of the fires, including the evacuation of the city," a spokesperson for the Bordeaux City Council told Sky News.
Smoke from the wildfires has reached Bordeaux, and air quality has deteriorated significantly.
Air pollution caused by the fires may also lead to respiratory problems.
Meanwhile, authorities in the Gironde region, where Bordeaux is located, said that strong overnight winds contributed to the rapid spread of the wildfires.
Around 220,000 people have been evacuated in France so far as a result of the wildfires.
