FOUR-YEAR-OLD GIRL MAULED TO DEATH BY DOG

BERLIN, JULY 10 /SRNA/ - A four-year-old girl died after being attacked and mauled to death by the family dog in the village of Drosa.

Police have launched an investigation into the child's 32-year-old mother and a 30-year-old family acquaintance to establish all the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, MDR reports.

According to information from the police and the public prosecutor's office, the girl was playing with the dog in the apartment when the animal suddenly attacked her and bit her multiple times.

The dog is believed to have been an American Staffordshire Terrier.

Although those present immediately tried to separate the dog from the child, the girl suffered such severe injuries that even the emergency medical responders who arrived at the scene were unable to save her, and she died at the scene.

The dog was taken to an animal shelter, and psychological support was provided to family members and emergency service personnel.
