FLIGHTS FROM CATANIA SUSPENDED FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE DAY

MILAN, SEPTEMBER 28 /SRNA-Reuters/ - Flights from Catania Airport were suspended today for the third consecutive day due to ash being emitted by Mount Etna, airport operator SAC in Sicily said.

The statement said that all operations at the airport, Italy's fifth-busiest passenger airport, had been suspended.

Passengers are advised to check with their airlines about the status of their flights before travelling to the airport.

Mount Etna, the highest and most active volcano in Europe, frequently disrupts flights at Catania Airport, while ash plumes have been particularly dense and intense this summer.
