FIVE CHILDREN AMONG THOSE KILLED IN FIRE IN LIMA SUBURB

LIMA, JULY 23 /SRNA/ – At least 10 people have died after a fire broke out in a family home in a poor neighborhood of Peru’s capital, police said.

According to family members, five of the victims were adults and the other five were children.

Two more people were injured, local civil defence authorities said on social media.

The fire broke out in the early morning hours at a house in the La Victoria district, a suburb of Lima.

The blaze spread quickly due to flammable materials and electric vehicles parked in front of the house.
Local media reported that the fire was most likely started by criminals involved in extortion, who had previously threatened local business owners.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
