BERN, JUNE 21 /SRNA–Reuters/ – The first round of talks between Iran and the United States in Switzerland ended today, a source close to the negotiating team told Reuters.
U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance said that significant progress had been made in the Middle East negotiations, including the situation in Lebanon, as well as talks between the United States and Iran.
"U.S. President Donald Trump has instructed us to turn a new page and change our relationship with the people of Iran," Vance said.
During discussions with the Iranian party on a broader Middle East agreement, Vance said the USA is in historic moment and that negotiations, mediated by representatives of Pakistan and Qatar, were aimed at transforming the Middle East and permanently improving relations with Iran.
He added that the goal of the U.S. administration is to secure stability in the region through diplomacy and create conditions for joint efforts toward peace and prosperity.
American and Iranian negotiators also held a trilateral meeting with Qatari mediators as part of the talks in Switzerland.
