BRATISLAVA, MAY 29 /SRNA/ - Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico called for restraint from inflammatory statements following the drone attack on an apartment building in Galati, Romania.
In a post on X, he expressed full solidarity with the Romanian government.
Fico recalled that he had warned a few days ago that, in the absence of dialogue between Russia and the EU, any stray drone could lead to an escalation of tensions that might not be able to be controlled.
"I once again urge the immediate opening of dialogue between the European Union and the Russian Federation," Fico added.
The Romanian Defense Ministry said earlier today that a drone crashed onto the roof of a ten-story apartment building in Galati, southeast Romania, causing a fire, and a woman and her minor child suffered minor burns and were hospitalized.
The fire has since been extinguished.
The Romanian Foreign Ministry said Bucharest had informed its allies and the NATO Secretary General about the incident and requested measures to speed up the transfer of anti-drone equipment to Romania.
