BRUSSELS, OCTOBER 5 /SRNA/ - Fifty members of the European Parliament, including 46 women, have been targeted by AI-generated pornographic deepfakes, according to research by Germany's Agora Digital Transformation organization.

"The number of women targeted by fake pornographic content, in which artificial intelligence is used to create explicit sexual depictions of people, often without their consent, means that one in six female members of the European Parliament has been affected," the study said.

The report said the European Commission should find a way to ensure that internet search engines remove websites carrying such disputed content from their indexes.

The EU will from December 2 ban AI applications that depict people without clothes, while an investigation is also under way into the use of the Grok application on the social media platform X, Politico reported.

A cross-party group of 119 lawmakers sent a letter to European officials calling for effective enforcement of the ban and a swift conclusion to the investigation into Grok.

"There can be no loopholes or delays in enforcing the ban," said one of the letter's signatories, Lena Schilling, an Austrian Greens lawmaker.

The letter was sent on September 30 to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, European Commissioner for Technology Henna Virkkunen and European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib.
