EBOLA OUTBREAK LEAVES NEARLY 3,400 DEAD

DAKAR, SEPTEMBER 12 (SRNA-Reuters) – The number of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo has surpassed 7,000, with the death toll reaching 3,398, according to a new government report, which also said the virus had spread to a new province.

Officials said that a case of Ebola was discovered in South Ubangi province, in the northwest of the country, far from the epicenter of the outbreak.

The Bundibugyo strain of Ebola outbreak has become the largest and deadliest in the history of Congo, after surpassing the 2018–2020 outbreak in terms of cases and fatalities.

This outbreak is the second-largest in the world, after the West African outbreak from 2014 to 2016, when in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone more than 28,600 people got infected and more than 11,000 people died.
