ST. PETERSBURG, JUNE 6 /SRNA/ – Governor Alexander Drozdenko announced that 144 Ukrainian drones had been destroyed over the Leningrad Oblast and that the aerial threat had been mitigated.
"During the repelling of an unprecedented attack over our region, 144 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down," Drozdenko posted on Telegram.
Drozdenko explained that drone debris fell in several districts of the region, damaging building facades.
A fire broke out in the Lomonosovsky District, prompting authorities to temporarily evacuate some residents from areas near the blaze.
Pulkovo Airport temporarily suspended arriving and departing flights, but the restrictions were lifted this morning, reported RIA Novosti.
St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said that three people sustained minor injuries in the drone attacks.
Earlier, Beglov stated that Saint Petersburg had been targeted by a massive drone attack this morning.
He urged residents to remain indoor, avoid going outdoors, and warned that disruptions to mobile internet services were possible.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum ends today in St. Petersburg. According to Anton Kobyakov, representatives from 142 countries participated in the forum.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum opened on June 3 and was also attended by a delegation from Republika Srpska.
