MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 9 /SRNA/ - Moscow will propose holding a Russia-USA-Germany business forum next year, with representatives of the Alternative for Germany /AfD/ party taking part, Russian Presidential Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries Kirill Dmitriev said.
"We will propose a Russia-Germany-USA business forum with the AfD in 2027 in order to revive business dialogue and restore common sense," Dmitriev posted on X.
Dmitriev, who is also CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said that the AfD is emerging as a German party of common sense and could help save the country, TASS reported.
The AfD won a record 43.8 percent of the vote in elections in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, twice as much as in 2021, while Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s Christian Democratic Union won 17.2 percent.
The elections were held on Sunday, September 6.
This is the first time since World War II that a far-right party has come to power at the state level in Germany.
