DEATH TOLL FROM EBOLA EXCEEDS 2,000

DAKAR, AUGUST 11 /SRNA-Reuters/ - The Democratic Republic of the Congo has announced that the number of confirmed deaths from Ebola has reached 2,011, marking the latest milestone in the fastest-spreading outbreak of the disease to date.

The latest figures from the Congo’s National Institute of Public Health also show 4,381 confirmed cases across five provinces.

The World Health Organization had earlier warned that this was the largest Ebola outbreak to date and that its uncontrolled spread posed a threat to neighbouring countries as well.
