COLOMBIA EARTHQUAKE DEATH TOLL RISES TO 224

BOGOTA, AUGUST 11 /SRNA/ – Colombia earthquake death toll has risen to 224, Reuters reported, citing local authorities.

It was previously reported that more than 700 people had been injured, while nearly 200 people are still missing.

An earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale struck western Colombia yesterday morning.

The epicenter was near the town of San José del Palmar, the Chocó region, and the tremors were felt across much of Colombia as well as in neighbouring countries.
