TURIN, SEPTEMBER 12 /SRNA/ – Chinese automakers have taken center stage at the Turin Auto Show, showcasing advanced design and technology as industry representatives highlight their growing role in Europe's automotive sector.
A total of 132 new models will be showcased at the Turin Auto Show, along with a range of activities including test drives and events focused on automotive design.
Chinese automakers, including Chery, Geely, Great Wall Motor and GAC, received awards in various categories, Xinhua reported.
Andrea Levy, president of the Turin Auto Show, said more people are becoming familiar with Chinese brands, adding that Chinese vehicles are introducing new technological solutions while placing increasing emphasis on comfort, entertainment and safety.
Davide Loris Amantea, chief creative officer at Pininfarina, said Chinese automotive design had moved beyond simply drawing on established styles and was showing greater confidence in defining its own identity.
"I have to say that the market today shows that the Chinese design language is really powerful, also because, technologically speaking, they have many more tools to create new ecosystems and environments in design, whether for a car’s interior or exterior," Amantea said.
Fabrizio Giugiaro, an automotive designer, CEO and founder of GFG Style, said Chinese automotive design was particularly open to innovation and was benefiting from advanced technology and greater freedom to explore new ideas.
