CHINA AND KYRGYZSTAN STRENGTHEN CULTURAL TIES THROUGH TELEVISION PROGRAMME EXCHANGES

BEIJING, AUGUST 27 /SRNA/ – Ahead of the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit, which will be attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and his state visit to Kyrgyzstan, a programme featuring selected film and television content produced by China Media Group /CMG/ has been launched in Bishkek.

Around ten of CMG's top film and television programmes, including President Xi's Letter, Chinese Records of Craftsmanship and Technology and The Red Pomegranate Restaurant, will be broadcast by major Kyrgyz media outlets, including the National Television and Radio Corporation of Kyrgyzstan.

President Xi's Letter presents a selection of Chinese President Xi Jinping's replies to letters from foreign Sinologists, artists and young people, vividly telling touching stories about his efforts to promote friendship among peoples and foster mutual understanding, CMG reported.

The film also portrays China as a responsible major power in the new era – open, inclusive and committed to mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as its deep friendship with the peoples of other countries.

CMG President Shen Haixiong said in a video address at the opening ceremony that the event, jointly organised by CMG and Kyrgyz media outlets, represents an active measure to fully implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and the outcomes of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Tianjin, as well as to deepen cultural exchanges and friendship between the peoples of China and Kyrgyzstan.

"The programmes that will be broadcast will enable audiences in Kyrgyzstan to better understand President Xi Jinping's ideas on promoting friendship among peoples, learn about Chinese culture, and experience the vitality and dynamism of China in the new era that will contribute to a better understanding of Chinese culture, wisdom and spirit.

Let us jointly implement the four global initiatives proposed by President Xi, promote the spirit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and, through more people-to-people and cultural exchanges, as well as practical cooperation, inject new impetus into the friendship between the peoples of our two countries that will endure from generation to generation, and make new and greater contributions to jointly building an even stronger China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future," Shen said.

According to the announcements, the broadcasting of CMG's film and television programmes in Kyrgyzstan will continue until the end of October.
