MADRID, AUGUST 10 /SRNA/ - The mayor of the Spanish city of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, has called for the deployment of the military on the streets and the expulsion of remaining migrants who entered the country illegally from Morocco, the Spanish news agency EFE reported.
After Spain was rocked by the illegal entry of around 80,000 Moroccan nationals into the North African enclave of Ceuta in late July, Vivas called for the situation in the city to be brought back to normal.
He conveyed this request to Spanish Minister for Territorial Policy Ángel Víctor Torres, saying that the situation was unsustainable and unacceptable.
Vivas confirmed the establishment of a detention center for foreigners to hold the remaining Moroccan nationals while their deportation cases are being processed.
