CARACAS, AUGUST 14 /SRNA/ - Venezuelan authorities plan to return gold reserves worth four billion dollars from the Bank of England, the "Financial Times" reported, citing a statement from Caracas.
The government and the opposition, as reported, said in a joint statement that they are working on the return of Venezuela's international reserve assets held in the Bank of England.
The statement notes that the funds will be used for reconstruction following recent earthquakes.
Great Britain has refused to recognize the Venezuelan Government since 2018, thereby denying this Latin American country access to 31 tons of gold stored in the vaults of the Bank of England.
The Bank of England, it is stated, is awaiting legal clarification on who will control the gold reserves once they are returned to Venezuela.
