ISTANBUL, OCTOBER 2 /SRNA – Reuters/ – Oil prices have begun to fall following the decision to release 100 million barrels of oil and fuel from reserves, International Energy Agency /IEA/ Executive Director Fatih Birol said.
"Today, we took a step regarding diesel fuel. We held a meeting with world leaders and announced that we would begin releasing 100 million barrels of oil from reserves again. Prices are starting to fall," Birol said.
Speaking at a press conference in Istanbul, he added that he hoped "this would be a useful step".
French President Emmanuel Macron earlier announced on behalf of the Group of Seven /G7/ that the organization’s member states would release 100 million barrels of diesel fuel and oil from their reserves.
