BALLISTIC MISSILES AND DRONES FIRED AT TARGETS IN SAUDI ARABIA

RIYADH, SEPTEMBER 26 /SRNA-Reuters/ - A Saudi-led coalition in the Middle East said it had intercepted two ballistic missiles and two drones launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels at targets in Saudi Arabia.

The coalition said the missiles were aimed at Khamis Mushait, while the drones were headed toward the capital, Riyadh. No further details were provided.

Saudi civil defense issued alerts overnight for Khamis Mushait and Abha, but not for Riyadh.

The Houthis, who control Yemen's most populous areas and much of the north, have been carrying out attacks on Saudi Arabia since declaring a maritime blockade of Riyadh in July, targeting Saudi vessels in the Red Sea. The rebels are backed by Iran.

Saudi cities, energy infrastructure and vessels have been targeted, adding pressure on global oil supplies and putting at risk the main alternative export route from the Persian Gulf while traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remains largely blocked.
