AT LEAST 100 KILLED DUE TO ROCK COLLAPSE IN GOLD MINE

HARARE, AUGUST 19 /SRNA/ - At least 100 people died when a rock collapsed at a gold mine in eastern Cameroon, the Cameroon 24 portal reported, citing statements from locals.

The report states that search and rescue operations are underway, and that the full extent of the accident remains to be determined.

According to the portal, a large number of people were in the mine at the time of the accident.

Rescuers are working in difficult conditions, as the operation is being carried out without large machines that could cause the mine shafts to collapse.
