AT LEAST 10 ADDITIONAL EARTHQUAKES REGISTERED IN VENEZUELA

CARACAS, JUNE 25 /SRNA/ - The Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research has registered at least 10 additional earthquakes after two devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, El Nacional newspaper reports.

The report states that most of the additional tremors were registered in the states of La Guaira and Miranda, and that they had magnitudes between 2.4 and 4.5 on the Richter scale.

Earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale hit Venezuela less than a minute apart, and authorities declared a state of emergency.

Venezuela's Acting President Delcy Rodríguez said earlier that 164 people had been confirmed dead and 971 injured.
