ARMED FORCES KILL 14 MILITANTS IN OPERATION

MOGADISHU, SEPTEMBER 5 /SRNA/ — Somali forces have killed 14 fighters from the Al-Shabaab militant group during an operation in the southwest of the country, the Ministry of Defense stated.

The ministry said the troops also destroyed hiding bases used by the militants.

"This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Somali National Army to eliminate Al-Shabaab and ensure security and stability across the country," the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry praised the soldiers for their courage and sacrifice, stressing that operations would continue until the militants are completely eradicated, Xinhua reported.
