ARAGHCHI: IRAN INSISTS ON DIPLOMATIC WAY OUT

TEHRAN, SEPTEMBER 27 /SRNA-Reuters/ - Iran believes that only diplomacy can resolve its conflict with the United States and Israel, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.

"Our conditions are clear, and any move toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz depends on those conditions being met. Only a negotiated solution can provide a way out of this deadlock," Araghchi wrote on social media.

US President Donald Trump had earlier said he rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days and bring the conflict to an end.

"We are waiting for the mediators to convey the final positions to us, and we will make our decision on that basis," Araghchi added.

He said the mediators in talks with the United States had not formally conveyed Washington's rejection of the plan.

Iran this week presented a peace proposal at the UN General Assembly in New York, saying it had been delivered to the Americans through Qatari mediators.

The United States has imposed an economic blockade on Iran in an effort to pressure Tehran to halt attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
